Wireless Internet Access Available!

Wireless Node SymbolFREE Wireless & Perfect Pints o' Guinness!
We pride ourselves on being a traditional Irish pub here in Austin, but that doesn't mean we don't supply the latest 21st century conveniences for our guests. You can now "surf the net" while you quaff a pint or enjoy a selection from our award-winning menu!

What It Means
B. D. Riley's has a public wireless internet access point, making our high-speed internet connection accessible throughout the pub. If you have a laptop/notebook computer or handheld device equipped to receive wireless internet signals, you can use the internet, browse the web, send email etc. while enjoying your time at the pub.

What You Need
Your computer or device needs to support the wireless access standard called "WiFi" (sometimes referred to as "802.11b" or "802.11g.") WiFi-compatible PCs, Macs, Blackberrys, cellphones and other PDAs are all supported. Once your computer or device is ready to receive signals, just set your device to "listen" for our network identifier, or SSID, which is simply "BDRILEYS" (all upper case letters).

That's all there is to it! You can check your mail while you enjoy the craic at your favorite pub.

"Geeky" Details
We have recently upgraded our wireless access point/router on the pub's 1.5 Mbps high-speed DSL connection. It is now a D-Link 108MBPS-capable "G" series WAP, supporting high-speed clients. Our SSID is "BDRILEYS" (all CAPS).

Finding Hotspots
We are listed in many free hotspot directories, including WiFinder, WiFi411, and perhaps most useful, JiWire, which allows you to download an offline directory of hotspots for use while traveling, allowing you to search for a hotspot even before you are online. For more information, click the icon below to search for other hotspots, or to download the JiWire Hotspot Finder and offline directory for Mac, Windows, handhelds or cell phones.
